Profile of Boostboys.com

by Bret Kelly

BoostBoys.com has been nominated for a CyberSocket.com
Web Award in the Clubs & Events category. You can vote for their
site until Dec. 31 with a chance to win prizes. I spoke with Web
designer Jason Ford about the site:

How did the Boost Boys Web site come about?

One night at one of the Boost Boy parties, Eric Blais approached
me about doing a Boost Boys Web site. I got really excited by the
possibilities of Web design. I owe all my interest in Web design
and content creation to Eric Blais and he continues to program,
code, and create half of what the BoostBoys.com experience is all
about.

What is your role on the site?

I do all the Web design and graphics, then hand it over to Eric
for the really hard job of coding my sometimes complex ideas,
which I sometimes have to go back to the drawing board for. Eric
is always keeping me in line, I like a lot of graphics and have little
sympathy for people with slow internet connections. Eric is the
nice guy and likes to please everybody, which is good for the site.

I also do all the Flash animation on the site, as well as creating
and writing a lot of the content. Eric comes up with the Boost
Boys television and radio, which is really going places for us and
has a lot to do with the future of BoostBoys.com.

How many unique visitors does the site get a week?

We get usually about 3,000 uniques a week, mostly from the
US. I think a lot of them just want to experience the parties and
fun through photos, a lot of them are in places that don’t have
parties like Boost Boys.

You seem to have a lot of contests and updated features at the
site?

People like the Web to keep changing. If you have a site that just
stays the same, or even changes yearly or monthly, people will get
bored and visit twice if you’re lucky. If people see that something
changes weekly or daily they’ll visit daily. Something is added to
our site at least once every two days — except during computer
difficulties and vacations. As for the contests and interactive stuff,

we find that it really gets people involved and interested in what’s
going on. We’re trying to get a corporate sponsor to give away
something really big on the site…we’ve had a few bites but
nothing confirmed.
